Kelly Schneider

Funeral Director & Crematory Operator

Kelly grew up just outside of Madison, Wisconsin, in McFarland, with her parents and younger brother. She was always involved in sports and a variety of student groups. Kelly graduated from high school in 1995 and went on to attend UW-Eau Claire. Again, she was active in a variety of organizations and even chose to spend a semester abroad in Australia. After graduating from UW-EC in 1999 (Biology major and Pre-professional Health Science minor), she returned to Madison for work.

In 2001, Kelly began an internship with Cress Funeral Service in Madison and enrolled in the Mortuary Science Program at the University of Minnesota in 2002. She completed her degree in December of 2003 and went on to work as a funeral director for two years at Werness Brothers (SCI) Funeral Chapels and then for two years at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Homes – both in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area.

Kelly started with the O’Connell Family Funeral Homes in August of 2007. She holds licensure in both Wisconsin and Minnesota, and is involved with professional groups through the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association. Kelly’s favorite part of being a funeral director is working with families to personalize a service for their loved one and educating the public about her profession.

When she’s not working, she treasures time with her friends and family; she is known for being “the planner” of the group. Kelly is a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin, likes to play ultimate Frisbee, and can sometimes be coaxed into running a 5 or 10K race. She routinely cheers for the Wisconsin sports teams (especially the Packers!), but has converted to being a MN Twins fan.
