Curtis T. Odden, age 88, formerly of St. Paul, died peacefully July 7, 2017.  Curtis was born February 23, 1929 in Decorah Iowa to Alma (Martinson) and John Odden.   Curtis’s family moved to St Paul when he was 13 years old.  Curtis graduated from Wilson High School in St. Paul, and then worked several jobs.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Curtis was honorably discharged on a hardship discharge because his father was ill.

Curtis then took a job with Armour and Co. as a salesman.  He was wed to Patricia Andersen June 3, 1950.  Curtis’s job required multiple transfers causing their three children, Michael, David, and Susan to all be born in different towns.

Curtis was eventually offered a job in Ironwood, MI as a branch manager for Armour and Co.   Curtis was then transferred back to Minnesota.  From Minnesota they were transferred to Chicago, IL and from Illinois back to Minnesota, and retired on Lower Clam Lake in Siren , WI.  Curtis was active in the Moose Lodge, serving as president of the Moose Lodge in Siren, and then became the accountant for the lodge. Curtis loved living on the lake, he enjoyed fishing, golfing and working in his woodworking shop.  Curtis and Patricia also loved to travel.  They were snow birds for over 20 years pulling their camper south with their beloved dogs.

In their golden years they reluctantly sold the lake home and moved to Hammond, WI, where they resided until Patricia passed away in April of 2016.

Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his parents; and his younger brother, John.  Curtis is survived by his children, Michael (Shelly), David (Linda), and Susan (Jim) Mohr; sister, Evelyn Ekstrom of Rosemount, MN; brother, Howard Odden of Washington State; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Curtis will take place 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 12th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, with Pastor Paul Backstrom officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.  Interment with military honors will follow lunch at Elmhurst Cemetery in St. Paul.  Patricia’s grandchildren have the honor as pallbearers.  Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
