June Viola Belling, age 98 of Hudson joined the saints who have gone before her on September 3, 2017 at the Hudson Hospital. June was born on June 9, 1919 in Westerheim Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Anton and Margaret (Hofteig) Kompelien. She graduated from Lake City High School and attended Winona State Teachers College where she earned a degree in Education. She taught elementary grades at various towns and schools in Minnesota. June was united in marriage to Marvin V. Belling on May 10, 1947 at the St. Lucas Church in Cottonwood, MN.
June was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed working in her gardens as well as sewing and crocheting; she was also a devoted member of the altar guild at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood for many years. June loved good music; she was a lovely vocalist, talented pianist, and played violin in her youth. She was a crack bridge player and always enjoyed a lively conversation.
June will remain in the hearts of her children, Craig (Lori) Belling of Crestwood, KY, and Monica (Steven) Weekes of Hudson, WI; grandchildren, Simone (Dane) Haugen of Roseville, MN, Nathan (Melinda) Belling of St. Cloud, MN, Erica (Jeff) Kanewischer of Stillwater, MN, Skyler Weekes of Denver, CO, and foster grandson Ron (Gretchen) Noon of Wadena, MN; siblings, Ramona Hanson and Dagny Gniffke; twelve great-grandchildren, as well as countless extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; son, Bernard Belling; daughter in-law, Carol Belling; foster great-grandson, Benjamin Noon; her parents; and six siblings.
Memorial Service for June will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, at the Bethel Lutheran Church - Downtown Campus, 920 Third Street, Hudson. Interment will be at the St. Lucas Cemetery, Cottonwood, MN on Sunday, September 17. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
