Gordon P. Thompson, age 81, of Baldwin, passed away suddenly on November 7, 2017. Gordon was born May 14, 1936 in Baldwin, Wisconsin, one of fifteen children to Iver and Gena Thompson. Gordon attended Cloverleaf Grade School, Baldwin High School, and 1 year at River Falls College. He proudly served his country in the  United States Army serving 2 years, 18 months of it in Ulm, Germany.

After his military service, Gordon worked for 10 years for a soft drink distributor in Seattle, Washington, and 25 years as a driver and salesman for Western Beer Distributor in Tacoma, Washington.

Gordon was married to Judy Morley on July 28th, 1962.  They were blessed with 30 years of marriage, until her unexpected death in 1992. Gordon and Judy’s marriage brought one son, Scott; and 3 step-children, Randy, Bambi, and Grant. On July 17, 1993, Gordon married Audrey Bakke and gained 4 more step-children, Craig, Jim, Mary, and Joe.

Gordon was a member of the River Falls VFW.  He was also a devoted member of the New Centerville Church and Park.  Gordon was a true outdoorsman, who loved to hunt out west and salmon fish in the Pacific Ocean.  He was meticulous in keeping his lawn and gardens neat, and enjoyed feeding the birds in his backyard. Gordon also treasured helping his family with handy work, and making bird houses. After retiring in 1994, Gordon and Audrey were fortunate to spend their winters in Yuma, Arizona.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Iver and Gena Thompson; first wife, Judy; sister, Kathleen Schmidt; brothers, Doug, Stan, Mick, Donny, Steve, and Mark Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; son, Scott (Katherine) Thompson; 7 step-children; 1 grandson; 12 step-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean Swenby, Eileen Duvall, George, Bruce, Ralph, and Jerry Thompson, and Linda Mulheron; brother-in-law, Butch Schmidt; and many other relatives and friends.

Honoring Gordon’s generous wish, the gift of life was shared with others in need through tissue and donation.
