Geneva Tonn

Geneva Rae Tonn, 87, of Hudson, WI, formerly of Johnstown, NY, died on September 6, 2022, at Woodland Hills Assisted Living in Hudson, WI, surrounded by her loving family.

Geneva was born on December 22, 1934, to Raymond and Florence (Way) Shogren in Alexandria, MN. She attended Elementary and High School in Alexandria.   Her family would vacation to a cabin in Miltona, MN, spending summers on the water and winters riding snowmobile. Following High School graduation, she was excited to move to the “big city” of Minneapolis. Where she intended on starting nursing school as some unforeseen twist of events happened, she was not able to attend. , Geneva was set up on a blind date with Eugene Tonn. This date would last 59 years, and the couple would be united in marriage on May 25, 1957. Their marriage would be blessed with two children: William and Susan. When she was pregnant with her first child, Geneva became a stay home mom and took care of her family.

She committed her life to her family and always put her family first above everything else. She enjoyed taking long car rides to the countryside, watching the Yankees play baseball and the race cars in NASCAR. She was entertained by doing crossword puzzles with Eugene and then baking Christmas cookies with her grandchildren. She adored nature and the natural beauty of watching the birds, deer, and other wildlife she could see out her window. Geneva was a caring, nurturing, and loving person, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Geneva is survived by her brother, Allen Shogren; sister, Barbara Zvork; son-in-law, Tim Reams; grandchildren: Bill (Tasha) Tonn, Melissa Tonn (Alex Wilson), Jamie McGratten, Kyle McGretten, Zachary Reams (Jacob Sweiger), Katherine Reams, Sarah Reams; along with five great-grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Eugene; son, William; daughter, Susan; sister-in-law, Linda Shogren; brother-in-law, James Zvork; daughter-in-law, Susan McGratten; son-in-law, Jim McGratten.

Services for Geneva Tonn will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2022, at Bethel Lutheran Church Downtown Campus, 920 3rd St, Hudson, WI, 54016. Visitation will be from 12-1 pm, with a service to follow at 1 pm. Interment will be at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, WI.  The service will be live-streamed on the churches youtube page .

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the family.
