Alden Junius
Went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 6, 2025. He passed away peacefully at 92 years of age while surrounded by family. Alden was preceded in death by parents, Edwin and Esther; brothers Arlin and Lavern and his sister Marilyn. Survived by Merle, his wife of 70 years; children, Jeff (Linda), Julie (Jim), Mark (Sandy) and Mary (Mark); 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was born in McClain County, ND and graduated from high school in Plaza, ND. After achieving degrees from Augsburg and the U of M, Alden had a long and successful career as a mechanical engineer at 3M. He devoted his life to his family and his faith. Alden had a foundational role in starting and growing Shepherd of the Valley Church in Afton, MN. His home life centered on carpentry, auto repair, metalsmithing, picture framing and the ability to fix just about anything; he was truly a gifted craftsman. Alden was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed wilderness canoeing, fishing and traveling. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time at their beloved cabin west of Alexandria with Merle and family. A favorite spot was on the dock at sunset, listening to the loons calling and sharing this time with Merle. Visitation will be May 18th 4-6pm at O’Connell Funeral Home in Hudson, WI and visitation May 19th 10-11am at Shepherd of the Valley Church in Afton, MN, with Memorial Service at 11am, lunch to follow. Memorials preferred to Shepherd of the Valley Church in Afton, MN.
