Alice Marie Anders

March 9, 1924 — May 4, 2025

Ellsworth

Alice Marie Anders, age 101, of River Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at Bay Harbor Assisted Living.

Alice was born on March 9, 1924, in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, the daughter of George and Christina (Larson) Bartlett. She was raised in Ellsworth and graduated with the Class of 1943. During this time, she met and fell in love with her best friend and soulmate, Louis Anders. On June 13, 1946, they were united in marriage in Ponca, Nebraska. Their union was further blessed with the joy of a daughter, Jeanelle, who was the light of Alice’s life.

Alice spent thirty dedicated years as a line worker in supplies for Smead Manufacturing in Hastings, retiring with pride as a loyal employee. But her heart found its greatest fulfillment in caring for others. A devoted homemaker, Alice lovingly nurtured her family and home. She was also among the first foster parents recognized in Pierce County, opening her heart and home to children in need for many years—a calling she cherished deeply until health concerns required her to step back.

Whether working alongside Louis on the family farm, tending to their vibrant flower beds and bountiful vegetable gardens, or sewing beautiful clothes for Jeanelle with her talented hands, Alice poured love into everything she did. She took pride in a spotless kitchen and insisted on washing dishes in water hot enough to steam the windows—always the first to volunteer and the last to complain.

Alice’s legacy is one of quiet strength, steady devotion, and boundless generosity. Her family will remember her as a woman of grace, warmth, and enduring love.

She is survived by her beloved granddaughter, Erin (Charlie) Pearson, and their daughter Rileigh; her son-in-law, Dale Langer (Anne Masssen); as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Anders; her daughter, Jeanelle; and her brother, Kenneth (Blanche) Bartlett.

A memorial service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Monday, May 12th at 4:00 p.m. at English Lutheran Church, 229 W Main St, Ellsworth, WI 54011. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 3:00 p.m., also at the church. Alice will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth.
