Allen F. Schneider

Allen F. Schneider, age 78 of Lakeland, MN passed away peacefully on January 10, 2013 surrounded by his family at home. Al was born November 26, 1934 in Mt. Carmel, North Dakota; the son of John Wilfred and Emma Barbara (Gapp) Schneider. After high school, Al furthered his education in automotive repair, and in 1982, he founded Al’s Automatic Transmission in Lakeland. He was united in marriage to Jeredine Biederstedt on February 19, 1966 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Jay, Sam and Nancy. Al and Jerrie were fortunate to travel together, with some of their favorite trips being Alaska, Hawaii, a European tour, and cruises.

In his spare time, Al enjoyed reading westerns and murder mysteries. He also enjoyed watching sports and was a devoted Twins fan. Al cherished his time with his family and was especially fond of playing cribbage with his grandsons. He appreciated his time spent visiting with his friends and neighbors. Al was proud to be a 38 year friend of “Bill W.”. A special thank you to the staff at the Cancer Care Center at Regions Hospital, and staff at Lakeview Homecare & Hospice.

Al is survived by his wife, Jerrie; sons, Jay and Sam (Kristin); daughter, Nancy (David) Kotula; grandsons, Alex, Adam, Charlie and Jake; brothers, James, Rick and Floyd (Shirley); sisters, Jean Westphal, Doris (Don) Borho, Kathy Schneider, Mary Spratt, Bette Popowitz & Leona Schneider; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Emma; sister, Bonnie Fischer; brother, Jerome; and son, Kevin Johnson.

Mass of Christian Burial for Al Schneider will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, January 15 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 16770 13th Street S. in Lake St. Croix Beach MN, with Rev. Fr. Jerome Kaiser officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to mass at church, and also from 4:00-8:00p.m. on Monday, January 14 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St. in Hudson. Burial will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeland. Memorials are preferred to the choice of the donor. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. 715-386-3725
