Anthony Koshenina

Tony was born one of nine children to Slovenian immigrant, Frank, & mother, Katherine (Wehseler) Koshenina on May 20st, 1921 in rural Upsala, MN. He attended country grade schools & graduated from Upsala High School. His family farm was next to the Atkinson family farm, & he grew up good friends with their eldest daughter, Alice. On January 13th, 1947, Tony married his best friend & neighbor Alice Atkinson in Elmdale, MN, and together they shared almost 69 years of happiness. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, but spent his working career as a parts assembler at the Ford plant in St. Paul, MN. They enjoyed several years on their hobby farm near Roberts, WI. It was here that Tony & Alice raised their children; teaching them hard work & character building. Tony & Alice spent many winters in Texas together to escape the cold. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, UAW 879, & the Hudson VFW. He was also known to always be up for a good game of cards, & many friends & family members will miss playing with him.

Tony is survived by his beloved seven children; Juletta Cohan of Garrison, MN, Dan (Gail) of Lake City, FL, Mike (Peggy) of Richfield, MN, Peter (Becky) of Plymouth, MN, Mary (Dave) Schottler of Richfield, MN, Jean (Steve) Gullikson of Ham Lake, MN, & Anne (Rick) Reams of Hudson; cherished 18 grandchildren; Patrick, Jessica, Dorothy, Paul, Justin, Kelley, Toni, Nick, Jennie, Andy, Sophie, Michael, Robert, Kevin, Amy, Anthony, Aaron, & Joseph; treasured 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces, nephews, & extended family members & friends.

He was preceded in death by his adored wife, Alice, in 2015; parents, Frank & Katherine; eight siblings; & son-in-law, Mike Cohan, in 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12PM noon , Monday, January, 28th at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hammond. A Visitation will be take place two hours prior at the church. Interment will occur at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hammond. Memorials preferred to a charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
