Ardis Marie Doorak, age 94, of River Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at Kinnic Health Nursing and Rehabilitation, surrounded by the love of her family.
Ardis was born on June 16, 1931, in River Falls to Addison and Stella (Zarbock) Ottman. She grew up in the River Falls community and graduated from River Falls High School with the Class of 1950. Not long after, she met the love of her life, Dwight Joseph Doorak. The two were united in marriage on May 9, 1951, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, family, and shared memories. Together they were blessed with three daughters, Lynette, Roxanne and Karen, who remained at the heart of everything she did.
Ardis had a curious spirit and a love for seeing the world. She traveled extensively throughout her life, visiting nearly every state in the country, missing only Washington, as well as twelve countries and the Caribbean islands. Whether near or far, she appreciated the beauty around her and the experiences travel brought.
At home, Ardis found joy in the simple, comforting moments of everyday life. She loved working on puzzles, tending to her garden, reading, and watching her favorite television programs. Mystery shows and thrillers kept her guessing, while classics like Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right were daily favorites. She cheered faithfully for the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Flowers brought her special happiness, and she especially loved watching hummingbirds flutter through her garden, small moments that never failed to make her smile.
Above all, Ardis cherished her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters, Lynette (Gary) Mahoney and Karen Armbruster; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward her warmth, strength, and love of life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight; parents, Addison and Stella Holmquest; and her daughter, Roxanne Marie Magnus.
A private family graveside service will take place at St. Bridget’s Cemetery.
