Bernice E. “Bernie” Yoder, age 79 of Hudson, passed away December 7, 2014 at Comforts of Home in River Falls.  Bernice was born June 4, 1935 in Two Rivers, WI; the daughter of Charlie and Ethel (Frank) Turensky.  She graduated from Le Sueur High School, the Class of 1952.  She was united in marriage to Jack Yoder in 1955, their marriage was blessed with three children, Kaylene, Kevin and Shane.  Their marriage later dissolved.  Bernie would later meet her love and life companion, Don Alwin.  They shared 35 years and many wonderful times together.  She worked as a bookkeeper for the Jr. Ranch in Hudson for many years. In their earlier years, Bernie and Don enjoyed camping trips and family get togethers.  Bernie delighted in being outdoors, flower gardening, taking walks, watching birds and wildlife.   She was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan, who loved cheering on her team.  Most important to Bernie was her family.  Bernie was meticulous about making her home welcoming for her family. She cherished her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bernie will remain in the hearts of her soul mate and life companion, Don Alwin; children, Kaylene (Jeffrey) Nerby-Calkins of Altoona, Kevin (Barbara) Yoder of Hudson, Shane (Kimberly) Yoder of Eau Claire; Don’s children, Terry, Rick and John Alwin, and their families; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Bob, Norbert, Kathleen and Lucille.

Funeral services for Bernie will take place 3:30 PM Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. Eleventh St., Hudson, with Pastor Tim Booth officiating.  Visitation will take place 4:00 – 6:00 PM Wednesday, December 10 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, and 1/2 hour prior to the service.  Interment will take place at Willow River Cemetery of Hudson.  Pallbearers assisting with the services will be:  Corey Yoder, Brian Yoder, Benjamin Yoder, Nicholas Yoder, Rick Alwin and Ryan Spencer.  A special thanks to the staff at Comforts of Home in River Falls for their loving care of Bernie.
