Bernice Peterson, age 95, of Roberts, WI, passed away February 18, 2016 at the Hudson Hospital.
Bernice was born on May 29, 1920 in Grantsburg, WI to Ingvard and Josefine (Moan) Erickson. She grew up on the family farm in Grantsburg and was the youngest of five children. Bernice attended grade school at a one room school house and graduated from Grantsburg High School. On April 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to Ralph Peterson in Norfolk, Virginia. Their marriage would be blessed with three children: Michael, Constance, and Beverly. The family lived in Frederic, WI, before moving to New Richmond; and finally settling in Roberts. Bernice worked for 16 years as the deputy to the county clerk at the Hudson Courthouse.
Bernice loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed being involved with her children and grandchildren. Her faith in God was very important to her, and she was a founding member of Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts. Bernice was very involved in the church bazaar; making 600 lefse every year and approximately 1000 pieced quilts over 20 years. She enjoyed attending the church Bible Study, and hosted it several times. Bernice was a great cook who made everything from scratch, and she passed on the art of making lefse to any willing student.
Bernice will remain in the hearts of her children, Michael (Sally) Peterson, and Beverly (John) Ball; grandchildren, Dana (Jeff) Christopherson, Matthew (Jessica) Peterson; Jessica (Matt) Dunlap, and Lindsay (Joe) Green; great-grandchildren, Evan and Nyssa; Elliana, Maya, Trinity, and Flint; Olivia and Johnny; Brooklyn, Ireland, and Joe.
