Betty Almedia Lee, age 98, of Hudson, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday February 28, 2021, at Red Cedar Canyon. Betty was born on January 3, 1923 in Litchfield, Minnesota to Raymond and Harriet (Sundler) Davis. She grew up in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School. Betty was united in marriage to LaVerne Lee on January 7, 1951 in Crystal, Minnesota. They enjoyed 29 years of marriage before his passing in 1979. The two were blessed with a son, Doug.
Betty catered for many years at several venues, she loved to bake, she was always working on cookie recipes; Date Balls, Rocky Road, Chow main noodle cookies, and Scotcharoos to name a few. Her cookies were known world-wide, as they were a highlight in the care packages to her son, Doug, while he was deployed.
Betty loved her Church – First Presbyterian. She was a deacon and she counted the offerings every Monday for many years.
A huge highlight for Betty was her friendships with her mail carriers. Betty knew them each by name and loved to spend time talking and learning about their lives. Her sense of hospitality drew in everyone around her. She was a giving and caring person. Betty enjoyed buying items through magazines and would often put together care packages for her mail carriers, family and friends.
Betty will remain in the hearts of her son Doug (Linda) Lee; grandchildren, Kristina (John) Graf, William (Willow Williams) Lee, and Mandy Ray; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Kyra, Landen & Bella; sister Audrey Anderson, sister-in-law Millie Davis, many nieces, nephews, countless, friends and beloved mail carriers. She is preceded in death by her husband LaVerne, brothers; Clifford (Margaret), Andy, and Lester; brother-in-law Reuben Anderson, and her parents.
Funeral service for Betty will be held at 11am, Thursday, March 4th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. The service will be live-streamed. Betty will be laid to rest Friday, 11am, next to her husband LaVerne at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the charity of your choice.
