Brian John Martell

We are devastated to share that Brian J. Martell, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, died in the early morning hours of October 4th. He was 67 years old. A lifelong resident of western Wisconsin, Brian grew up on a family farm in Somerset and always loved the land, water, and wildlife of the St. Croix River Valley. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1985 with a BS in Forest Resources. Brian was a talented carpenter, handyman, forester, horticulturist, musician, and writer. Easygoing, thoughtful, and kind, Brian was generous with his time and talents, and was a friend to all.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Yvonne Martell, and his older brother Tom. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, siblings, cousins, and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Plans for a celebration of life are still in progress. Details will be available through O'Connell Funeral Home in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks in memory of Brian.
