Brian “Ole” Swenson, age 81, passed away September 3rd after a battle with kidney disease. He was born in Stillwater, MN and grew up in Hastings, MN. He joined the Minnesota Air National Guard in February of 1965, and he worked full-time in the 133rd airlift wing for over three decades. He found joy in traveling, and was always up for adventures, such as motorcycle road trips across the country, across Canada, and even through Europe. He loved collecting classic cars, and making bigger projects out of them than they actually were. He turned ‘tinkering’ into an art form. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. He could certainly be ‘ornery’ when he wanted to be, but he was one of the greatest men you could have hoped to have known. He loved to laugh and he loved to tell stories. Some of his stories were even truthful. He was a wonderful grandfather, full of adventure, and, occasionally, danger.
He is survived by his children, Erik (Alicia) Swenson and Jody (David) Olsen, his grandchildren Zak (Shannon) Swenson, Josh Swenson, Ben Swenson, Kait (Christian) Reiter, Abby (Brandon) Serier, Hannah (Brooke) Vollmer, Oliver Olsen, Dylan Childs, Elias Olsen, Jonathan Larson, Addison Larson, great grandchildren Haven Serier, Harlow Serier, Silas Olsen, Henry Reiter, his sister Judi Swenson, former wife Cheryl Walker and her children Scott and Nicole Fagula. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Anna Swenson, and his sister, Sandra Swenson.
A celebration of life will be held at O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI on September 10th from 4:00-8:00 PM. An honor guard led recognition of his military service will be held at 7:30 PM at the same location.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to the nurses of Lakeview Home Care & Hospice.
