Vern “Butch” Liddle, age 63, passed away suddenly on July 16, 2025, at his home in Roberts, Wisconsin. Born on February 6, 1962, in Hastings, Minnesota, he was a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend.
Butch graduated from River Falls High School during which he met the love of his life Kelly Wert. The two were married on September 24, 1983 and together were blessed with their daughter Sara. Butch started his entrepreneurial endeavors straight out of high school after buying a milk truck and would eventually share that 365 day a year job by purchasing a second one and having the most reliable employees willing to share the commitment to the farmers. From there he purchased over the road semi’s in which he never went alone out west, always coercing his best buddies to go with him. He then purchased a produce hauling business with multiple trucks and more employees, so he finally had Sundays off. He and Kelly took advantage and bought their first home away from home on Lake Wapogasset. His last 25 years he owned P&S Post where he “planted and harvested” real estate signs having his “PHD” (post hole digger) from which he most recently retired this June.
Butch lived a life filled with adventure and happiness while surrounded by his family and friends. He had a passion for boating, camping, horse back riding , jeeping, 4-wheeling, sitting poolside and staying up late to have one final final. Those who knew him will remember his infectious laughter and his determination to enjoy every moment, especially during nights out with friends where he strove to be the last one standing. His mornings were often spent with a cup of coffee in hand, watching Fox News, playing solitaire and enjoying the company of his two favorite girls, Kelly and Sara.
Butch was a deeply sentimental man who loved fiercely and openly and conflict was not his friend. He and Kelly made the most wonderful memories together, particularly during their last 4 winters spent at their condo in sunny Cape Coral, Florida.
He is survived by the love of his life Kelly; daughter Sara Liddle and her fiancé Chris Hedberg; brother Billy (Penny) Liddle, mother-In-Law Beverly Wert; extended Wert family sisters and brothers, Carol Waltz, Janny (Val) Dierks, Debbie (Brent) Jensen, Becky (Mike) O’Keefe, Brian (JoAnn) Wert, Greg (Chris) Wert, Linda (Jerry) Johnson and over 100 nieces and nephews all of which he cherished, among the best of countless friends and Wisconsin and Florida neighbors.
He is preceded in death by his parents Vern and Viola Liddle; brothers Paul, Fuzzy and Jerry, Father in law Darrel Wert and 4 nieces.
