Callissa ‘Calli’ Simonson

Callissa “Calli” Jolee Ann Simonson, age 26, of Baldwin, WI, passed away on December 3, 2015 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Calli was called to God too soon, but we take comfort that she was an organ donor and helped others have a chance at life.

She was born on March 21, 1989 in Bellflower, CA to David Simonson and Joleen (Schalko) Ja-Sun. Along with her brothers, Caullin and Cole, she grew up in River Falls, and attended River Falls High School. Many would know Calli from her time working at Freedom Gas Station in Baldwin, but she currently worked for McGrath Construction.

Calli had the ability to light up any room she walked into. Her friendly smile, gracious heart, and beautiful soul brought comfort to everyone around her, lovingly helping others feel better when they needed a boost. Her spunk and laughter could brighten even the darkest room, and her welcoming persona made meeting and talking with new people easy for her. Calli had an energetic nature, and was an animal lover who enjoyed guinea pigs, rats, gerbils, baby chickens, and puppies (especially Tucker). She loved spending time in the outdoors, whether it be hunting or fishing, or soaking up a beautiful sunset. Above everything, Calli truly lived well, and was loved by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

She is survived by her father, David Simonson; mother, Jolene Ja-Sun; brothers, Caullin and Cole Simonson; paternal grandmother, Audrey Simonson; maternal grandmother, Isla Jane Mary Cloutier; very special aunt, Jennifer Lathrop; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Elmer Simonson.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Calli’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin. An informal Public Gathering will be held following the service from 4-7 p.m. at the Phoenix Bar and Grill, 2570 Gracie Dr., Baldwin. Memorials preferred to the family.
