Carol Ann Hubanks, age 93, of River Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at Hudson Hospital, surrounded by her family’s love.
Born on December 10, 1931, in Spring Green, Wisconsin, 1 of 8 children, Carol was the cherished daughter of Leonard and Verona Schoenmann. From a young age, her heart was anchored in family and faith—two values that remained central throughout her life.
First and foremost, Carol was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy came from being with her children and grandchildren, and she poured her heart into their lives with tireless love and loyalty. She never missed a school concert, sports game, graduation, or gala—always proudly cheering on her granddaughters.
She was patient, funny, deeply faithful, and the very definition of selflessness. Her home was always open, her support unwavering, and her kindness endless. Carol had a tender love for animals—especially her cats, Shadow and Cartwheels—and a passion for life’s simple joys. She found delight in gardening, baking, quilting, bowling at St. Croix Lanes, and friendly games of cards and Scrabble. Her hobbies brought her joy well into her 80s, until Parkinson’s made it more difficult.
A longtime and active member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, Carol found community in service, helping make donuts on Sunday mornings and sewing with the quilting group. She especially treasured summer trips to California, and attending Schoenmann family reunions.
Later in life, Carol enjoyed calling her siblings every Saturday for a chat, sitting on the patio, going for walks, and taking scenic drives to see Christmas lights, fall colors, and spring flowers. She became a great-grandmother in 2017 and took great pride in her growing family.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Verona; her beloved husband of 46 years, Wayne, and brothers David and Donald Schoenmann. She is survived by her children Scott and Joe Hubanks, and Karen Swenson (Dan); her grandchildren, Chloe Lloyd-Lindholm, Sierra, Savana, and Sophia Swenson; and great-granddaughter, Bella Lloyd-Lindholm, as well as, her siblings Jean Otremba, Margaret Erbeck, Lillian Debs, Martha Rhinehart, and Dennis Schoenmann and many nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E Division Street, River Falls, WI 54022. Visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service; beginning at 1:00 p.m., Carol will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Asbury Cemetery in Onalaska, Wisconsin.
