Chadwick 'Chad' Lee Edison

Chadwick Lee "Chad" Edison, age 57 of Hammond, passed away unexpectedly, August 17, 2026, at his residence. Chad was born May 8, 1969 in Eau Claire to Dennis and Karen (Harriman) Edison. He grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Eau Claire North High School in the class of 1988. He continued his education at CVTC, earning an associate degrees in marketing and business.

Chad was a natural problem-solver who eventually turned that ability into his livelihood. He operated Pro Auto for more than 20 years and Chad's Mobile RV for more than 10 years. Whether it was a vehicle, an RV, an appliance, or just about anything mechanical, Chad enjoyed figuring out how things worked and, more importantly, how to get them working again.

He had what others described as a "PhD in tinkering." If something stopped working, Chad considered it a challenge. He could take a television apart into 30 pieces before finally conceding that maybe, just maybe, that particular one could not be saved. Throwing something away before exhausting every possibility simply wasn't Chad's way. He was content with what he had and saw little reason to spend money when something could be repaired or made to work a little longer.

Chad married Amy Johnson on July 10, 1999, in Pleasant Valley. Together, they shared four children; Austin, Jordan, Alyssa, and Julia. When the kids were growing up, family trips were important to Chad. Wisconsin Dells was a favorite destination, as was time spent at Lake Holcombe & their South Dakota trip, where many fond memories were made. He also enjoyed taking the family to Como Zoo. It offered exactly the kind of day Chad appreciated: everyone could have fun together without spending a fortune.

At home, Chad enjoyed watching movies, with the Indiana Jones films among his favorites, and anything about history. He knew his way around a grill and was especially proud of a good steak or pork chops. He was equally happy, however, with a bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich & add a piece of red velvet cake afterward, and the meal was complete. Chad was also involved in taekwondo and worked his way to earning his black belt, an accomplishment that he was proud of. 

Chad is survived by his children, Austin Johnson (Bailey), Jordan Edison (Meghan), Alyssa Jordan, and Julia Edison; grandchildren, Annalynn, Everly, Hallie, Beaux, and Scarlet; parents, Dennis and Karen Edison; siblings, Heather Barber (Joe) and Chris Edison (Heidi); nieces, Ava and Grace; nephews, Dakota, Lance, and Calvin; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Audrey Harriman and Clayton and Stella Edison.

A Celebration of Life for Chad will be Friday, August 28th from 2pm to 4pm at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin. Burial will be at a later date in the East Bennett Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family, who will determine how best to honor Chad.
