Charles Edward Compton, also known as Nick Rock, passed away suddenly on June 15, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on February 4, 1958, in Fort Collins, Colorado, to parents Adrien Porter and Charles Compton. Charles graduated from Stillwater High School and shortly after moved to LA on his motorcycle. Charles will be remembered for his bold, adventurous spirit and an unyielding passion for motorcycles. As a fearless competitor at El Mirage and the Bonneville Salt Flats, he set remarkable records that showcased his love for speed and competition. He achieved the extraordinary feat of surpassing 200mph in a 125cc streamliner. As the founder of Nick Rock Construction, Charles brought his sharp eye for design and meticulous craftsmanship to Hollywood, building iconic sets for film and music videos. A proud 30-year member of I.A.T.S.E., Local 44, his work left an enduring imprint on movies like Fun with Dick and Jane, Wedding Crashers, and Die Hard 4, to name just a few. He also had a fiercely loyal side when it came to sports—cheering for the Atlanta Braves, the Minnesota Vikings and with just as much enthusiasm, anyone playing the Packers.
He is survived by his children Hanna Compton (Sam Peterson) and Cale Compton; mother, Adrien Porter; siblings David (Patty) Compton and Christine (Scott) Porter and the mother of his children Kristine Compton and Steffani Drage.
He is preceded in death by his father Charles E. Compton Sr. A Celebration of Life will be held at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, Wisconsin, on June 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 P.M.
