Charles Richard “Chuck” Bundy, age 80 of Hammond, formerly of Hudson, passed away surrounded by family on January 10, 2020 at his home.
Richard was born on February 10, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents Harold and Florence (Dischinger) Bundy. He grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Mercy High School with the class of 1958. Following high school, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as an electrician aboard the naval ships. He met the love of his life, Geraldine Ropel, at a U.S.O. Christmas dance while on shore leave, and the couple were united in marriage on June 18, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The couple were blessed with two children, Yvonne and Ron. With the skills he learned in the Navy, Richard worked a long career as an Electrical Engineer for several companies in the Twin Cities area.
Richard’s greatest joys in life were his wife and family. Above everything else, he cherished his time spent with them. Richard enjoyed flower gardening and growing vegetables; which he would share with his neighbors, often delivering them with his riding lawnmower. He was fond of fishing and traveling throughout the United States and Canada, and relished about the enjoyable times he had in Alaska. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hudson, where he had previously served as head usher and on the building committee for the construction of the new church.
Richard will remain in the hearts of his wife of 59 years, Geri; children, Yvonne (Paul) Roselle, and Ron (Nancy) Bundy; grandchildren, Ryan, Derek, and Jared Roselle; Nick (Megan) Willbanks, Mike (Denice) Willbanks, and Adam (Krystal) Willbanks; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Sydney, and Lucas Willbanks; siblings, Gene (Nancy) Bundy, Sue (Tom) McNeill; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Florence Bundy.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, WI. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Interment at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in New Richmond.
Richard’s family would like to personally thank the staff of Lakeview In-Home Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
