Cheryl Louise McGlade

March 21, 1946 — November 15, 2025

Hudson

Cheryl Louise McGlade, beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 15, 2025. Cheryl was born on March 21, 1946, to Robert and Pearl (Nord) Anderson of Hudson, WI. She grew up in a loving family alongside her siblings Naomi (Willie), Toni (Halverson), and Scott Anderson. She married the love of her life, James Patrick McGlade, on October 29, 1966. They recently celebrated 59 years together. She was his “Sweet Lady.”

Cheryl was deeply committed to her family, always offering support, wisdom, and unconditional love. She was the devoted mother of Kimberly (Mike) Webb, Kyle (Leah) McGlade, and Robert (Michelle) McGlade, whose lives she enriched every day. She was also the proud Grandmother to Ambrosia, Ashley, Elias and Spencer Webb, Caylie and Isaac McGlade, and Alyssa McGlade.

As a girl, Cheryl loved exploring and spending time with her family on the St. Croix River. She worked as a car hop at the A&W, connected calls with actual cords at the telephone company, and warmed up race cars at the Cedar Lake Speedway (She could do a mean power slide). After she was married, she worked part time at 3M and stayed home with kids for a few years, finishing her career as an administrative assistant for Tracy and Thole, CPAs, retiring in 2007.

Cheryl’s love of life was evident in everything she did, from her penchant for taking the road (or hiking trail) less traveled to skydiving, bungee, jumping, padding wild rivers, and inviting complete strangers to Christmas. She also enjoyed working in the garden, picking black caps, riding horseback and swimming. She loved Lake Superior (her lake) and spent countless hours hunting agates. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her thoughtful nature, and her ability to find joy in the little things. Cheryl’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed.

A memorial service to celebrate Cheryl’s life will be held at Faith community Church in Hudson at 5 pm on January 5. Visitation will begin at 4pm and a meal will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of choice in Cheryl’s honor.

May Cheryl McGlade rest in the arms of her Savior and begin the best adventure ever!

Cremation & funeral services have been entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Services.
