Chris D. Wangen

December 27, 1935 — March 16, 2026

Woodville

Chris D. Wangen, age 90 of Woodville, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026 at Parkview Care Center in Woodville.

Chris was a career carpenter and a member of Local Union 87. A hobby farmer at heart, he found joy in the land—tending gardens, pulling weeds, mowing the grass, fencing and chopping wood with enduring determination. Summers were marked by the simple pleasure of picking strawberries and raspberries, moments that reflected his appreciation for life’s honest rewards.

He believed in saving everything, knowing that even the smallest piece might one day have purpose. That same philosophy extended to his family—he gave of himself freely, helping his children turn their houses into homes, leaving behind not just structures, but spaces filled with warmth and love. If something was broken, he could fix it.

He treasured time with family above all else, those moments were his greatest joy. At day’s end, he found contentment in simple comforts, perhaps a glass of blackberry brandy on ice and the quiet satisfaction of a day well spent.

His faith was a guiding light throughout his life. He loved his church deeply and carried a steadfast devotion to God.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his resourcefulness, his unwavering faith, and the deep love he had for his family.

Chris was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Arlene; his son Brian, parents Christ & Dora (Williamson) Wangen; brothers Ted & Marv, and sister Doris “Dodo”.

He will be greatly missed by his children Chrisann (Tom) Rupiper, Kari (Mike) Bear, Eric (Pauline) Wangen, Sarah (Bart) Heebink; grandchildren James (Tracy) Rupiper, Laura (Ken) Schwartz, Stephanie (Luke) Mullins, Ryan (McKenzie) Westforth, Christopher, Joseph & Rayna Wangen; great-grandchildren Audrey, Ruby, Finn, Charlie, Sulley, Kalli, Taryn, Kaley, Abner, Nora; many nieces & nephews.
