Clinton Hurtgen

Clinton W. Hurtgen, age 75 of rural Baldwin, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Clint was born July 25, 1940 in Baldwin WI to parents Albert and Sarah (nee Sabby) Hurtgen. Clint attended the New Centerville grade school, and graduated from Baldwin High School. Clint would be united in marriage to Judith Green on October 22, 1965. Their union would be blessed with three children, two generations of grandchildren, and fifty years of love and togetherness.

Clint worked at the Heebink Lumber Yard for nearly 17 years before going to work for the Donaldson Corporation. He would work there over 25 years before retiring in August of 2002. Outside of work, Clint kept busy with league bowling, gardening, catching the news at daily intervals, working in his shop, and finding items to salvage and refurbish. Clint loved his dogs, as well as raising beef cattle and hogs on his hobby farm. Clint enjoyed dancing, playing cards, playing the guitar and accordion, and always loved to tell jokes. Whether he was camping, fishing, or sitting around the fire, Clint especially cherished time spent with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Clint is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy; children, Wendie (Ron) Kees Steele, Paul (Sandy) Hurtgen, and Jolene Hurtgen-Kerr; grandchildren, Taylor (Jake) Hurtgen, Lindsey Hurtgen, Dalton Kerr, Dakota Kerr, Daniel Larson, and Samantha Chapin; great-grandson, Dylan, and a great-granddaughter on the way; his brother, Richard; sisters, Margaret, Ellen, Edna, and Ina Mae; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Clint was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Sarah; his brother, Ervin; and his parents-in-law, Roy (Marcella) Green.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street in Baldwin WI. To honor Clint’s wishes, a private family service will be held. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
