Curtis Patrick Carey, 76, of Hudson, Wisconsin, passed away on October 19, 2026, at Regions Hospital.
Curtis was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, to Thomas and June Carey. He grew up in Republic, Michigan, where he attended elementary school. Later, he moved to Eveleth, Minnesota, where he attended high school before returning to Republic to finish his education. He went on to attend Northern Michigan University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree and a master's degree in finance from The American College in 2009.
He began his career as a medical technologist in Michigan before moving to Hudson, Wisconsin, where he changed careers and became a financial planner with New York Life. He dedicated 35 years to the profession before retiring. He was also a member of Rotary International through the Hudson chapter and was passionate about his involvement with the organization. His faith was also important to him, and he was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Hudson.
Curt was a true Renaissance man who was always busy with a project or looking for something new to learn. When he was younger, he cut wood and built homes with his father, including homes he would later live in. His passion for woodworking continued throughout his life, especially after retirement. He poured his heart into everything he made and had an incredible work ethic, always making sure a job was finished. He was an all-around handyman who could fix just about anything or at least give it a try.
Curt also enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies, including cooking and grilling, hunting, fishing, gardening, and working on projects around his yard. One of his earlier hobbies was planting vines in his yard and creating his own vineyard, where he and his wife, Connie, enjoyed making wine together. It was something he truly loved and a special hobby they shared. Curt also enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and he was always keeping busy with a project or finding something new to learn. He was a caring and generous person who was always willing to lend a hand, whether cutting trees, helping with plumbing or electrical work, or offering financial planning advice. He was always happy to share his time and skills with others, and above all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; his children, Chad (Pam) Carey and Mark (Alison) Carey; his grandchildren, Taylor (Aldo), Emery, Xavier, and Solomon; and his sisters, Rita and Julie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and June; his sister, Marlys; his brother-in-law, Al; and his brother-in-law, Dave.
A celebration of life for Curt is being planned for November. Further details will be shared once the arrangements have been finalized.
