Daniel Poppe “Boone”, age 89 passed away on February 5, 2025. He was born the 4th child of Robert and Violet Poppe. He graduated from Withee High school class of 1953. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He married the love of his life, Marie Miolund in 1960, and together they were blessed with three children.
Boone enjoyed his work as a union tree trimmer for many years followed by driving a dairy and produce truck route for Anderson Distributing of Baldwin. He cherished the connections he made with fellow workers and the communities.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many fishing trips around Wisconsin, as well as to Alaska,Canada and Florida with fishing friend Dave. He found peace and happiness in the outdoors, especially by the water, and loved sharing a good fishing story and laughs with others. He was a proud member of Baldwin American Legion. He enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. He loved to read, do crossword puzzles, watch jeopardy with a cold Arnold Palmer, or hot cappuccino within reach.
He is survived by his children Mark(Kim) Poppe, Jim Poppe, Kay (Mike) Dorwin. He took great joy in being Grandpa/Gpa to Heather(Ross) Thomas, Eric Dorwin(Bailey), Trevor Poppe, Hannah Poppe, Nathan Poppe, Kristina Poppe, and was so proud to be Great Grandpa to Devon Kay, Sawyer Marie, Harper Violet Thomas. He is also survived by siblings, Beverly Sillampa, Janet Zaborowski, and Jack(Pat) Poppe and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marie, brothers; Richard (Evelyn) Poppe, Robert Poppe, in-laws Helen Poppe, Carl Sillampa, Roger Zaborowski, and nephew Tom Zaborowski and his beloved dog, Smokie.
His family appreciates the Veteran pinning/ recognition ceremony presented by Adoray Hospice and attended by family and Baldwin American Legion representatives held prior to Boone’s passing.
No formal services per his request. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Family prefers memorials to Baldwin American Legion, Adoray Hospice or Parkview Nursing Home.
