Darin Schuyler Ofstie, 57 of Baldwin, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2026, following a motorcycle accident.
Anyone who knew Darin knew life moved a little faster when he was around. Born on June 13, 1968, in Red Wing, Minnesota, he packed more into 57 years than most people do in a lifetime. He built a life fueled by family, hard work, big ideas, and projects galore. As a business owner involved in Precision companies, Darin always had something in the works – a new project, a fresh plan, or “a few irons in the fire.” He loved fixing problems, building things, making connections, offering help, and turning conversations into action. Sitting still simply was not in his nature.
More than anything Darin loved his family and community. He was a proud and supportive dad to Keegan and Connor, spending countless hours at games and activities cheering them on from the stands. Around Baldwin, Darin was known for his outgoing personality, quick conversations, willingness to help others, and ability to connect with just about anyone.
He is survived by wife of 32 years, Kim; sons, Connor & Keegan (Gabby) of Baldwin; niece, Amber Nelson of Spring Valley; mother in law, Harriet Rothe of Plum City; favorite sisters-in-law, Renee Gilles (Jim Kariesch) of Prescott and Jan (Jeff) Krause of Elmwood; nephews, Mitchell (Nikki), Breelyn & Kinsley Krause of Ellsworth, and Kyle Kruase of Mankato MN. Plus, many extended family members and close friends.
Preceded in death by parents, Sky & Mary Ann Ofstie; brothers, Steve & Jeff Nelson; sister-in-law, Pam Nelson; father-in-law, Gordon Rothe; and brother-in-law, Patrick Gilles.
Services will be held at O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin on Wednesday, June 3, 3:00-7:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials are preferred to the family.
