David Allen Olson, age 60 of Glenwood City, passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2017 at the Western Wisconsin Health in Baldwin. David was born July 11, 1956 in Hudson, WI, the son of Marvin and Patricia (Cook) Olson. He graduated from Hudson High School, the Class of 1973. David was united in marriage on February 14, 1990 to Mary Jane Lien. His life was blessed with 3 children: Martha, Donny, and Charlie. David always enjoyed rebuilding vehicles, and worked as an auto mechanic for most of his lifetime.
David was a true outdoorsman, who appreciated nature, loved hunting and fishing, and shared those times with his sons. He was proud to have won 2 awards that were displayed at the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward. He was fond of traveling with his uncle Kenny to many destinations that brought great memories. He was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan, who delighted in cheering on his team. David had a loving personality and easily made friends wherever he went. He had a great sense of humor, which brought many smiles and laughter to those around him. Above all, David was a wonderful father and husband, who will be dearly missed.
David is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Martha (Dustyn) Dubuque, Donny Olson, and Charlie Olson; mother, Patricia Olson; as well as many aunts, uncles, other relatives, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Olson; grandmother, Beatrice Cook; grandfather, Nolan Cook; uncles: Kenny Cook, Richard Cook, John Cook and Lloyd Luck; and aunt, Toots Luck.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 4:00 – 7:30 PM, with a 7:30 PM Memorial Service on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Dunn County Historical Society, 1820 Wakanda St. NW, Menomonie, WI. Private interment will take place at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, WI. In keeping with David’s loving and generous spirit, his final act of kindness was the gift of tissue and eye donation.
