David Lee Rollins, age 85, left his earthly body peacefully on August 7, 2025 surrounded by his family. David was born in Beaver Dam, WI and had lived in the Wisconsin cities of Oconomowoc and Hudson for most of his life.
Davi attended UW-WI and later WCTC. David was proud of his service to his country as a US Army veteran. While he was stationed in Berlin, Germany in the early 1960s, he met his wife Brigitte and they were married in 1962. They returned to Wisconsin after his service ended to make a home here and had two children, Christine and Mitchell.
David spent a lifetime in the Brewing industry working for Schlitz, Stroh’s, and finally Grain Belt Premium breweries in the QC Department. In his retirement years, David enjoyed employment for many years as a school bus monitor. The interactions with the children he met on the routes was often the light in his day, along with the many friendships he found amongst his coworkers. David enjoyed many activities in his life including sports (he was a big fan of the Brewers and Packers), golf, hunting, Sudoku puzzles, reading historic fiction, spending time outdoors, and meals at Culvers. He also enjoyed daily jokes/riddles to bring a little laughter into each day.
His final few years of his life, after his wife Brigitte passed away in 2023, were spent living at the Hammond Health Services Hospice Center in Hammond, WI. The loving community of staff, volunteers, and residents that surrounded him were a source of daily joy for David and he often said that HHS was his home and those people were like his adopted family.
Many people felt David was a very special person and often described him as “one of a kind” & “rare” when it comes to his kindness for others and his friendships. His other joy in life was being involved in the lives of his three grandchildren. His oldest granddaughter Kaya grew up with David as her father figure in her life and the bond they shared until his last breath will forever be irreplaceable.
David was preceded in death by his parents (Amanda & James Rollins) & his 4 older sisters (Amanda, Phyllis, Lois and Janet). His surviving family members include his daughter Christine (Oconomowoc, WI), son Mitchell (Glenwood City, WI) and 3 grandchildren Kaya (UW-Madison, WI), Nate and Kenzie (Glenwood City, WI) & his older brother James Rollins (Beaver Dam, WI) along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
