Delores Lewis

Delores Lewis, (Nee Fern) age 79 of Roberts died peacefully Saturday September 11th at her home, surrounded by her family. Delores was born on February 24th, 1931 to Arnold and Cora (Helders) Fern in Baldwin, Wisconsin. She grew up in the Baldwin and Roberts area and graduated from Roberts High School. On November 4th, 1950, Delores married Gaylord Lewis at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. This marriage would be blessed with 3 children. The Lewis family would settle in Roberts and over the years, Delores would work for various businesses. These included; the State Bank of Roberts, the 1st National Bank of Baldwin & the Village of Roberts. Delores would retire from working for the Village of Roberts in November of 2008. On March 10th 1992, Gaylord passed away. However, Delores would remain in Roberts, close to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Delores’ passion was her family. Her favorite activities included anything that involved her children and grandchildren and she was proud to be called a great-grandma as well. She never missed a prom or graduation ceremony & was always in attendance at the various sporting events her kids and grandkids took part in. She loved time with the family at the cabin as well as when everyone got together for various events and holidays. Her cooking was well known and her potato salad and pumpkin bars were a family favorite. Delores also enjoyed watching the Packers and even made a few trips with her family to Lambeau Field.

Delores is survived by her children; Jeff (Sherri) Lewis, Pam (Doug) O’Keefe, and Linda Delander, all of Roberts; grandchildren, Melissa (Rick) Hamann of Hudson, Michelle (Douglas) Brathol of River Falls, Jamie (Melissa) Delander of Roberts, Nicole (Tom) O’Connell of Roberts, Kacy (Charlie) McGough of St. Paul, Kari (Nick) Frank of St. Paul and Alex and Adam Lewis of Roberts; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Derrick Hamann, Amy Vielleux (Stephane), Kelly, Darren, Michael, Skylar and Dylan Brathol, Gracie and Emma Delander, Jackie and Aaron O’Connell; brothers Wes (Marge) Fern of Roberts, Harvey (Betty) Fern of Houlton and Kenny (Mary) Fern of New Richmond; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Delores is preceded in death by; her parents, Arnold & Cora (Helders) Fern; husband, Gaylord; grandson, Brian O’Keefe; brothers, Don, Clarence & Maurice Fern & sister, Dorothy Peterson.

Funeral service for Delores will be 11AM Thursday September 16th at Roberts United Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Warren Cemetery in Roberts. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 until 8PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.
