Delores Lind

Delores Ilene Lind, age 86 of Baldwin, passed away on December 16, 2017, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Delores was born on June 17, 1931, the daughter of Arnold and Gladys (Iverson) Newton. She attended Baldwin High School, and graduated with the class of 1949. On April 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald Russell Lind at the Woodside Church in Baldwin. This union became more than blessed with seven children: Steven, Robert, Kathryn, Debra, Cynthia, Judith, and Lori. Delores worked tirelessly to help provide for her family putting their needs above her own. She had a strong work ethic that carried throughout her career that included employment at Torit & Fabri-tek.

Delores was exceptionally proud to be a wife, mother, and grandmother; and family gatherings were her favorite times. Delores found great joy in shopping at Herbergers and was always quick to add that the purchases made were at bargain prices. Visits to her grandchildren always included packages that were met with anticipation both from the receiver but especially from Grandma! Delores also took pleasure in being actively involved at Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Her simple faith and servant heart defined her spiritual walk.

Delores is survived by her husband of 67 years, Don; children, Steven (Cathy) Lind, Robert (Kitty) Lind, Kathryn (Gene) Wood, Debra (Gary) Christopherson, Cynthia Lind (Terry Genske), Judith (Dean) Underbakke, and Lori (Kirk) Reimann; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-children; brothers, John (Judy) Newton, and Duane Newton; sisters-in-law, Inez Newton, Marlys Newton, and Dorothy Phernetton; as well as numerous extended family members and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Verlyn Newton & Earl Newton; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Lorraine) Lind and Lyle Phernetton; sisters-in-law, Helen (Clarence) Jacobson and Doris (Dale) Freeman; as well as an infant granddaughter, Andrea Christopherson.

Funeral Service for Delores will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Baldwin, WI. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, as well as one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
