Diane Meyer-O'Keefe

October 15, 1936 — August 13, 2025

River Falls

Diane Elizabeth Meyer, from New Richmond, WI, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025 peacefully at home with her daughter by her side.

Diane was born to Clarence and Alice Kahl in 1936 and was a graduate of New Richmond High School. She later went on to nursing school and became a registered nurse.

She married John Meyer at Saint Paul Cathedral and had 6 rambunctious children over the years. In the year 1983, she and John moved to Blueberry Lake in Couderay, WI. She lived there with John until his passing in 1984. She later married fellow lake neighbor, Don

O’Keefe, of Rockford, IL. They remained on Blueberry Lake until his passing in 2019.

Diane navigated life with kindness and empathy for everyone she came across. She loved taking part in the local church, making delicious meals for the people in her life, and impressing her children and grandchildren with her never-ending list of knowledge and abilities. But most of all, she enjoyed time with her family, wherever that may be.

She was a caretaker through and through. This could be seen through her passion in her career in nursing, but also through her thoughtfulness - never missing a birthday card, letting you have extra caramel on your caramel dessert, making sure every night with her ended with a giant bowl of popcorn, waking up at 4 am to make sure that you have freshly

made bread for your grilled cheese, waiting up in the early morning hours just to make sure you arrive safe, and never passing up a chance to sit and catch up on your life.

She was also quite the fashionista, from her beehive hairdo and fur coat to the hand-picked accessories and roller hair style we all knew and loved.

When someone passes, we start to think about the legacy they left. When looking back at Diane’s life, seeing her passion for nursing and family - approaching everyone with

kindness, and the overall goodness she instilled in her children, it’s easy to see the legacy she left is one of love.

Diane is survived by her many loved ones - children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, family members and friends.
