Dolores Rae (Kirkemo) Alzen age 88 of Hudson, died peacefully October 11, 2018 at Comforts of Home in Hudson, WI. Dolores was born on June 29, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota; the daughter of Robert and Francis (Coplay) Kirkemo. She attended elementary school in Ball Club, Minnesota prior to graduating from Deer River High School. On November 20, 1954, she was united in marriage to Delbert Alzen at Grace Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. In addition to being a devoted homemaker, she worked as a dental assistant in Minneapolis, a school cook in Champlin as well as an administrative assistant to Del in his tax business.
Dolores took great pleasure in flower gardening, playing the piano, singing hymns, reading and last, but not least, hosting splendid feasts which always ended with a fabulous dessert, such as her amazing pies. Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was foremost in her life. Dolores deeply treasured her family. Grandma Dolores’ lap was a place of comfort and security.
She will fondly be remembered by her beloved husband Delbert; children Steven Alzen (Brenda LaBranche) of Atlanta, GA, Gary (Janelle) Alzen of Blaine, Bradley (Denise) Alzen of Afton; grandchildren Shane (Julie), Nicholas (Carly), Eric, Isaac, Lucas, Analise (Barak) Zierhut, Tessa, Jacob, and Jonas; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Lois Murphy and Roberta Zbesheski of CA. She joins in heaven her parents, siblings Merton Kirkeko and Mildred Gaylor.
Funeral service for Dolores will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23rd at Valley Baptist Church, 860 St. Croix Trail So. in Lakeland, MN. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the church prior to service. Burial will be at a later date at the Greenwood Cemetery in Jessie Lake, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family. Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
