Donald H. Sukowatey

Donald H. Sukowatey, age 61 of Hudson, passed away August 4, 2013. Don was born November 2, 1951 in Plum City, WI; the son of Herman and Carol (Webster) Sukowatey. Don graduated from Spring Valley High School, the class of 1969. Don furthered his education with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He became a licensed real estate broker in 1977. In 1980, he started his own firm and purchased the Sukowatey Professional Building, located in downtown Hudson, 126 2nd Street. Don worked as a broker of Coldwell Banker – First Choice Realty. He was united in marriage on October 25, 1980 to Carol Jacobson. Their marriage was blessed with 4 daughters.

Outside of his career, Don enjoyed being on his boat and skiing on the St. Croix River. He also enjoyed playing volleyball, basketball and tennis. He was an outdoorsman and took pleasure in fishing and hunting. Don treasured his time with his family, especially laying out by their pool and taking weekend trips up to their cabin in Trego, WI. Don truly enjoyed his life. He worked hard and played hard. He was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa and uncle. Don was a good friend to others and was a father figure to many young people. His smile and caring heart will be dearly missed.

Don is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Lisa (David) Linda, Yesna (Dave) Sukowatey, Melissa (Josh) Sukowatey and Ashley (Kyle) Sukowatey-Simpson; grandchildren: Gregory, Matthew, Cassie, Shawn, Harlen, Brock and baby girl Simpson on the way; great grandchildren, Aaron, Jayden and Chloie; mother, Carol; brothers, Alan, Tom and Perry; sisters, Sue, Mary and Judy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman; uncles, Max, Bud, and Bob; and aunts, Mary and Dee.

Funeral services will take place 3:00 PM Saturday, August 10 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, 520 S. 11th St, with a visitation from 12 NOON until the time of the service.
