Donald McKenzie

Donald "Don" Clayton McKenzie, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on December 18, 1939, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Donald lived a life full of love, creativity, and service.

As a proud Marine Corps veteran, Donald exemplified dedication and strength throughout his life. He worked as a programmer with NSP for many years before transitioning to the postal service, where he contributed his expertise to their data center. In his later career as a consultant, he collaborated with numerous companies, most notably Best Buy and Amdahl, leaving a lasting impact in each role he held.

Donald's thoughtful nature and keen intellect distinguished him as a philosophical thinker with a creative flair. He had an infectious passion for singing, often rewriting the lyrics to his favorite songs, particularly those with an Irish theme. His love for celebration shone brightest during St. Patrick’s Day, when he cherished time spent with family.

Donald was a devoted husband to Yvonne McKenzie, with whom he shared a deep and abiding love. He enjoyed golfing with friends in Myrtle Beach, and his warm spirit and romantic soul will be missed by all who knew him.

Survived by his children; James (Julie) McKenzie and Dawn (Tom) Lane; six grandchildren Mechelle (Meagan Scott) Hamblin, Patrick (Johnna) Robinson; Danielle (David) Allenstein, Alexis (Nathan) Warzon, Anna Lane, & Laura Dawn Lane; 3 greatgrandchildren Henry & Miles Allenstein & Jemma Robinson.

Preceded in death by his wife Yvonne; parents Charles and Helen McKenzie; daughter Carla Robinson; siblings Lois Waldron, Chuck McKenzie, Jim McKenzie, and Marlene Powell; and son-in-law Mark Schmokel.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Sept 14th at 11 AM with visitation 10AM-11AM at First Presbyterian Church, 1901 Vine St. Hudson. Interment Willow River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or memorials, please donate to the American Cancer Society, First Presbyterian Church of Hudson, or your favorite charity.
