Donna Nicholson

Donna Mae Nicholson, age 83 of River Falls WI, died on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul after suffering a stroke. Donna was born May 24, 1937 on the family farm in El Paso, WI to parents Charles and Bernice (Julson) Langer. Donna graduated from Hammond High School with the Class of 1955. On August 17, 1957 she was united in marriage to Ted Nicholson, though they later divorced, three children were born to this union: Rick, Mary, and Eddie.

Donna drove school bus for the River Falls School District, and after nearly 50 years, she would retire in 2011. Outside of work, she enjoyed baking and flowers, and loved traveling, especially to Branson with her “Gallivanting Grannies” friends to take in country western and Daniel O’Donnell music shows. Donna was a wonderful lady who would often sit down and take the time to send off a hand-written letter to those she cared about. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Donna is survived by her son, Rick (Beth) Nicholson; her daughter, Mary (Doug) White; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Straub; her grandchildren, Brock (Shelley) Schulte, Nicholas (Becky) White, Mike (Alyssa) Nicholson, Michelle (Jason) Haas, and Danny (Andrea) Nicholson; great-grandchildren, Colton, Brody, Elly, Easton, and Ruthie; special granddog, Kota; her brother, Chuck (Margaret) Langer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Nicholson; her grandson, Ryan White; great-grandbaby, Jayden Haas; her parents; and her sister, Gloria (Ed) Veenendall.

To honor the life of Donna M. Nicholson, a Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Monday, August 31st from 3:00-6:00pm at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, 211 E. Division Street in River Falls, WI. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family. Services are entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of River Falls. 715-425-5644
