Doris Mae Clifford of Maiden Rock passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on February 24, 1936, in Red Wing, Minnesota, to William and Olive Jennings.
Doris lived a life rooted in simplicity, love, and quiet generosity. She found joy in the little things, time spent with family, the beauty of nature, and creating something meaningful with her hands. She had a deep passion for cooking and became especially known for her beautifully decorated cakes. Whether for weddings or birthdays, her creations were made with care and brought happiness to countless celebrations.
In 1972, Doris married the love of her life, Kermith Clifford. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and devotion. They raised three children, whom Doris cherished deeply, and worked side by side raising cattle and hogs. Their home was one filled with warmth, laughter, and a strong sense of togetherness.
Doris had a giving heart and a gentle spirit. She found happiness in sewing clothes, tending to flowers, watching birds, and camping with those she loved. She also looked forward to her winter trips to Arizona and California, where she found rest, sunshine, and more cherished memories.
Above all, Doris will be remembered for her kindness, her steady presence, and the way she made people feel cared for and welcome. Her love lives on in the many lives she touched.
Doris is survived by her loving husband, Kermith Clifford; her children, Valerie DeGazzelle, Debby (Mark Holland) Krchnavy, and Kerri (Wayne) Sherman; her brother, Daniel (Nancy) Jennings; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, and eight siblings.
A Funeral Service for Doris will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at O'Connell Family Funeral Home, 130 North Grant Street, Ellsworth, Wisconsin 54011. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Following the service, a burial will take place at Maiden Rock Cemetery.
