Dorothy G. Spoo, age 96 of Woodville, passed away on May 21, 2016
at Park View Home of Woodville.
Dorothy was born in Graettinger, Iowa on December 27, 1919
to Clarence and Clara Hanson. She graduated from High School
in Estherville Iowa.
On Sept. 14, 1941, she was united in marriage to Herbert Spoo
in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple resided in Glendale, California
for several years while Herbert worked for Lockheed Corporation
building planes during World War II. Dorothy worked at the
Burbank-Hollywood Airport during this period.
In 1944 the couple returned to the Midwest and lived in Northern
Iowa until 1957 at which time they moved to Southern Minnesota. During
the time that Dorothy resided in Southern Minnesota, she worked
for Univac Corporation in computer manufacturing.
In 1985, the couple moved to Woodville to be near their sons and
grandchildren. Herbert passed away in 1998.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four sisters.
She is survived by sons, Reg (Carol) Spoo of Houlton, Duane (Ruth) Spoo
of Deer Park, Larry Spoo of Woodville, and Bruce (Nancy) Spoo of Baldwin,
as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Park View Home
staff for the great care and compassion they provided to her during her
time there.
Funeral services for Dorothy Spoo will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2526 80th Avenue in Woodville, with Pastor Wayne Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 25 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association, or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
