Duane E. Mason

Duane E. Mason, age 72 of Ellsworth, died on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Duane was born on January 8, 1945 in Nelson WI to parents Wayne and Wilma (Letts) Mason. He attended school for a short period, and began working as a farm hand on a large dairy farm near Plum City. Duane later worked alongside others with disabilities at ProAct, and formed decades-long friendships while a resident of the Brotoloc group home in Ellsworth.

Duane was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, as well as basketball. He truly loved just spending time outdoors. Duane proudly crafted bead necklaces, and gladly shared them with others. Duane also enjoyed listening to music, especially the music of Elvis Presley, since they shared a birthday. Duane will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Duane is survived by his brother, Ivan Mason of Durand; his nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Wilma Mason; and two sisters, Shirley Hanson, and Charlotte Jamerson.

To honor his wishes, Duane was cremated, and a burial will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Nelson Cemetery, in Nelson, WI. Cremation services entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth, WI. 715-273-4421
