Duane John Pechacek

Duane John “Curly” Pechacek, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Duane was born on October 10, 1935, to Clara and Theodore Pechacek. He was the fifth of six brothers raised on the family farm in River Falls, where he learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of family—values that remained central throughout his life.

Duane served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1955, and his family is proud of his time serving his country. He later worked as an engineer at 3M, where he spent many years before retiring.

Duane deeply loved his wife, Martha, whom he affectionately called “Marty,” and their life together was a great source of joy. He was also a lifelong member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and even spent some time serving as a janitor at the church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha; his son, Jon; his parents, Clara and Theodore Pechacek; and his five brothers.

Duane is lovingly remembered by his children, Julie (Gary) Olson, Jackie (Rick) Lemke, and Greg (Sandee) Pechacek. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren, a cherished great-grandfather to 28 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandfather to two.

Known to many as “Curly,” Duane lived a life defined by faith, family, and hard work, and he will be deeply missed and cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Please join us in celebrating the life and legacy of Duane Pechacek on March 20 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, 211 E. Division St., River Falls. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately following the service, with lunch to follow.
