Edward Terwilliger

d. December 30, 2016

Edward Terwilliger, age 87, lifelong resident of Hudson, WI, passed away on December 30, 2016, at the Baldwin Care Center in Baldwin, WI.

Edward was born on June 9, 1929, to Edward and Iris (Drake) Terwilliger in Ithaca, NY. After attending school in Ithaca, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. It was while in the Air Force that he met his future wife, Janice Purdy, and they were blessed with a large family of nine children, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Edward spent much of his career as an engineer, and dedicated 27 faithful years to 3M, where he retired from in April of 1996.

Edward was an avid bird watcher, stamp collector, and chess player, winning chess club championships at 3M. Singing was another passion of his, being a vocal contributor to the St. Patrick’s Church choir, and after his retirement, he took great pleasure in sharing his talents with the residents of the American Heritage Care Center. He loved spending time with his family, going for walks, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice; children: Peter Terwilliger, Margaret (Thomas) Erdman, Catherine Hopkins, Thomas Terwilliger, Elizabeth (Dan) Gunsallus, Theresa Terwilliger, Stephen Terwilliger, and Andrew Terwilliger; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother, Norman (Loretta) Terwilliger.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn Terwilliger; and siblings: Michael Terwilliger and Dawn Shoneman.

A Memorial Service for Edward will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2016 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, with a visitation held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
