Eileen Struemke, age 71 of rural New Richmond, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at her residence. Eileen was born July 4, 1943 in her home to parents Thomas and Cecilia (nee Crotty) Germain. She attended school in Somerset, and graduated from Somerset High School. Eileen would be united in marriage to Allen Struemke in November of 1963. Their union in marriage would be blessed with four children, and over 51 years of love and devotion.
Eileen worked a few different factory jobs outside the home, most recently with 3M, before her retirement. In the past five years, Eileen was blessed to have cared for her grandchildren and Kora, Rachael, and Allison, as well as many others. Eileen’s love for children made her a great mom, and an even better grandma and great-grandma. Her family, friends and neighbors meant the world to her. She enjoyed time spent in her vegetable and flower gardens, feeding and watching the birds, fishing and baking. Eileen liked trying her luck, and winning big, when playing the slots on a casino trip now and then. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Eileen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Al; her children, Richard (Julie) Struemke, Sherry (Patrick Mullan) Struemke, Brad (April) Struemke, and Tim (Kathie) Struemke; ten grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Vincent (Annette) Germain, Melvin Germain, Theresa (Harold) Rivard, Betty (Kenny) Hoverman, Joanie (Clint) Pfluger, Tom (Sue) Germain, and Louis (Lori) Germain; sister-in-law, Geraldine Germain; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jim Germain, and Gerald Germain; and sister-in-law, Rose.
Eileen’s family will honor her wishes to be cremated, and plan a Celebration of Life gathering for her on Saturday, June 27th from 12:00-4:00pm at the Stanton Town Hall, 2245 County Road T, Deer Park WI 54007. Memorials in memory of Eileen may be directed to St Croix County Public Health, or the University of Wisconsin Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention, for smoking cessation and tobacco education programs. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin, Wisconsin. 715-684-3434
