In Loving Memory of Elaine Kerschbaum:
Elaine Delores Kerschbaum, age 93, passed away peacefully on 1/4/26 at her home in Afton, MN surrounded by her family. Born on 3/21/32, in St. Paul, MN, Elaine was raised in St. Paul, and spent summers at her family cottage in St. Mary’s Point, MN. She graduated from Harding High School and worked as a secretary for Minnesota Fencing. Elaine married the love of her life, John (“Jack”) Kerschbaum in 1955, and together they were blessed with 9 children and many years of happiness.
Elaine demonstrated her love for God, her husband, and her family and friends throughout her life. She practiced her faith and also showed it daily in how she treated others. She attended St. Fransis of Assisi Church where she assisted as eucharist minister, prayer chain, adoration, and sang in her church choir for over 60 years. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, sewing, making wreaths, gardening (with a special love for roses), camping, traveling, home projects, shopping, and an occasional trip to the casino. She was also an avid MN State Fair goer and cherished this annual tradition with her 5 daughters.
Her home was a place where all were welcome (her motto was “There’s always room for one more”). She especially loved hosting an annual 4th of July celebration in Afton where the Kerschbaum’s, Hoye’s (dear cousins), friends and family made life long memories.
Elaine had a big heart and was known for her grace, strength, generosity, and wit. Her sense of humor brought joy and laughter to all fortunate enough to have known her.
“You will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts”.
She is proceeded in death by her beloved husband, John (“Jack”) Kerschbaum, son Michael Kerschbaum, sister Sally Lucker, sister and brother-in-law, Al and Psyche Hoye, and nephews Chris Hoye and Nick Hoye.
She is survived, and sadly missed, by her children, Mary Scheel, John Kerschbaum, Joe (Myra) Kerschbaum, Bernadette Kerschbaum, Tony Kerschbaum, Theresa (Sonny) Henry, Julie (Jon) Stow, and Meg (Rob) Kerschbaum; grandchildren Rachelle (Eddie) Bozzi, Billy Scheel, Hannah Scheel, Mindy Allee, Jake Kerschbaum, Henry (Cayla) Kerschbaum, Alisha (Pascal) Bianchini, Max (Kaylee) Helling, Sara (Travis) Johnson, Josh Henry, Collin, Charlotte & Connor Stow; and great-grandchildren Hazel Mae Kerschbaum, Nolan Helling, Jarett Flug Allee & Mishay Allee.
