Eldon William Myer of Hammond passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, at the age of 85. Eldon was a farmer, auctioneer, hard worker and insurance salesman, but most proudly a father.
Eldon’s exceptional gift of gab, coupled with his innate ability to connect with people, made him a well-known figure throughout the area. He embraced life in its fullest, from pulling tractors to emceeing local events. He served as a 4-H leader, instilling the principles of hard work and responsibility in the next generation while fostering a love for agriculture and the outdoors.
He was a farmer, and employee of 3M and Vital Plastics, Eldon also ventured into the world of insurance sales, always with a warm smile and a captivating tale that drew others in. He was an avid collector of toy tractors, lovingly showcasing his cherished collection to newcomers and visitors, creating joy and nostalgia for many. His beloved toy tractor museum in Baldwin stands as a testament to his enduring passion for this hobby.
Eldon was deeply proud of his children. He shared many memorable moments singing with his best friend Howard Heise in his younger years. Known for his distinctive big whistle and emotional storytelling, he captured the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Gloria Meyer, his children Pam (Ray) Johnson, Greg (Mary), Julie Nelson, Randy (Lori), Tim, Tom (Marci), Todd (Jenny); grandchildren Brad, Brenda, Bridgett, Craig, Shelby, Shawna, Jonathan, Tracy, Jenny, Jacob, Amanda, Tyler, Siera, Jack, Derek, Grace, 21 great-grandchildren; his sister Marlene Anderson, many nieces & nephews.
Visitation 10 AM – 12Noon with 12 Noon Memorial service Monday December 8 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1350 Florence St. Memorials preferred.
