Elvira J. Larson

Elvira J. Larson, age 88, of Baldwin, WI, died on March 29, 2023 at Comforts of Home in Hudson, surrounded by her loving family.

Elvira was born on August 6, 1934 in Baldwin, WI to George and Celia (Doornink) Kanis. She graduated from Baldwin High School and on June 3, 1954 was united in marriage to Lawrence Larson, a marriage that would be blessed with five children.

For most of her career, she was a cook at various restaurants in and around St. Croix County – particularly Mr. G’s, Red Bird, Ras’s, and The Laurel. In her free time, she was an avid crafter and quilter, loved getting out in her garden planting flowers and birdwatching. Everyone knew her as an amazing cook, and she likely cooked for every resident in St. Croix County at least once. She was also a passionate and vocal Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewers fan.

She is survived by her children: Larry (Margaret) Larson, Kristine (Dana) Vannest, Trudy (Donald “Buggzy”) Halberg, Tom Larson (Candy Jantz), and Jeff (Tammy) Larson; grandchildren: Megan (Jeremy) Carlson, Andrew Larson, Daniel Larson (Tim), Aaron Larson (Holly), Chelsea (Alax) Klein, Haley Vannest, Charles (Stephanie) Halberg, Tracee Anderson (Nathan), Sara Larson (Jeff), Nikki Larson (Anthony Palmer), Amber (Ryan) Grajkowski, Jeff Larson, Chris (Jenny) Larson, and Amy Larson (James Gibson); many great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (Audrey) Kanis and Roy (Glenda) Kanis; brother-in-law, Del Polzin; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; and siblings: Kenneth (Ardie) Kanis, Calvin (Doreen) Kanis, Grace Polzin, and Raymond Kanis.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church, 2084 County Rd. N, Baldwin. Memorial Service will be at 4:00 p.m. at the church. Interment at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Baldwin.
