Ernest Kunesh

Ernest Joseph Kunesh, age 64, resident of Baldwin, WI passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by family. Ernie was born on February 26, 1958 to parents Richard and Elizabeth (Zehoski) Kunesh in St. Paul, MN.  He was the oldest of eight children in his family. He attended Farmington High School, and graduated in 1976. While in high school, Ernie was a very strong runner. He was involved in both track and cross country, even competing in state meets.  When Ernie turned 18, he purchased a car he would have for the rest of his life, the 1966 Pontiac GTO.  Ernie loved this car!

On August 30, 1982, Ernie married the love of his life Shannon Nelson and through this union, they were blessed with a daughter. Ernie enjoyed spending time with his family and absolutely adored his grandchildren. He loved building things and was a very skilled handy man. He could fix or build just about anything.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Shannon; daughter Laura (Trevor) Swanson; grandchildren, Thomas, Melody, and Tessa; parents, Richard and Elizabeth; siblings, Mary, Teresa, Charles, David, Maureen, and Steve; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2022 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home 1010 Newton St. Baldwin, WI 54002.  Visitation will take place one hour prior. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials preferred to the family.
