Ethel Hahn

Ethel Mabel Hahn, age 95 of Hammond, formerly of St. Paul, passed away February 6, 2013, at the American Heritage of Hammond.  Ethel was born January 2, 1918, the daughter of Henry and Mabel (Hoskin) Froelich. Ethel’s  mother, Mabel, passed away during the influenza epidemic of 1918, when Ethel was just a baby. Ethel graduated high school and was united in marriage on July 4, 1936, to Raymond Hahn in Vesta, MN.  Their marriage was blessed with two children, Vern and Shirley.  Ethel provided for her family as a homemaker.  She was an excellent seamstress for her family.  Ethel also took pleasure in gardening, especially enjoying her irises and brightening the alley with peonies.  She loved navigating St. Paul and going to a variety of movies. Ethel cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ethel was full of spirit and lived a good life, ensuring her work on this earth was done.

Ethel is survived by her daughter-in-law, Doris Hahn; son-in-law, Eugene Sr. (Marlene) Hanson; grandchildren, David (Kelly) Hahn of Woodbury, Carla (John) Cornwall of Amery, WI and Eugene “Geno” Jr. (Rena) Hanson of Roberts, WI; great-grandchildren:  Matthew Hahn, Scott Hahn, Brittany Barkholtz, Eugene “Alex”, Michael, Jacob & Grace Hanson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; daughter, Shirley Hanson; and son, Vern Hahn. Ethel’s siblings were:  Herbert, Paul, Otto, Archie, Robert and John Froelich, Marilyn Danielowski and Faye Nelson.

Funeral Services will take place 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Acacia Park Chapel, 2151 Pilot Knob Rd., Mendota Heights, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service.  Interment will take place at Acacia Park Cemetery.  Pallbearers assisting with the services will be:  John Cornwall; Matthew and Scott Hahn; Alex, Michael, and Jacob Hanson;  (Honorary) Brittany Barkholtz and Grace Hanson.  Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson (715) 386-3725.  www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com
