Eula Elvina (Jensen) Casper, age 89 of Woodville, Wisconsin died Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in Woodville.
Eula was born August 10, 1922 near Spring Valley, Wisconsin the daughter of Sigfred Harold and Emma Sigfrieda (Jensen) Jensen. The family moved to a farm east of Woodville in 1925 and she lived there for most of her life.
In 1941, Eula began working at the Woodville Leader (Best Press) where she learned the ins and outs of printing. She operated the linotype and small presses, setting type by hand and doing office work. When her employer, Art Best, began an auction, real estate, and appraising business, she added those duties as well. She was managing editor of the Woodville Leader and many will remember her column "Here 'N There". By the time she retired in 1992 after being in that office for 51 years, she had printed newspapers by hand and computer.
On June 17, 1964, Eula married the love of her life, James (Jim) Casper. They were blessed with one daughter Wendy.
Eula was very active in the community and has always shown a great interest in the welfare of Woodville. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 12 years; assisted with the war efforts (WWII) including the rationing board; was on the Park View Home Board of Directors and in 2009 received an award for 50 years of service. Eula was a member of the Woodville Lions Club, and actively involved since the Club was chartered in 1952. In 2011, she received the prestigious Knight of Sight Fellowship award for her service. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church; the Woodville Legion Auxiliary Post 301; served on three citizen's committees that involved adding, building, and keeping the school in Woodville; and was active with state issues including school bus safety.
Eula and Jim loved traveling, visiting all of the United States, Canada, Trinidad, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Yucatan. She loved her cats and all animals, and loved spending time in her flower garden greatly enjoying (and feeding) the many birds. A highlight of Eula's life was her grandson Colton.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Jim.
