Evelyn "Evie" McGee

July 5, 1939 — October 20, 2025

Evelyn “Evie” McGee, age 86, of Baldwin, passed away on October 20, 2025 after a lengthy illness.

Evelyn was born on July 5, 1939 in Milwaukee, the daughter of August and Evelyn (Gess) Schmidt. Her mother died when Evie was four years old, so she was raised by her Uncle Casper and Aunt Lydia Roe. Evelyn grew up in Boyceville and graduated from Boyceville High School.

Evie worked for Bell Telephone in Minneapolis for a short time, prior to moving to Baldwin.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, puzzle books, and reading mystery novels. When she was young, she was a good artist and loved to paint. Evelyn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville. Evie was on a pool league, bowling league, and liked to play golf. She also treasured her time at the lake.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her parents; four siblings: Diwayne, Myren, Eileen, and an infant sister.

She is survived by her son, Don (Norma); daughters Lynne Hellerman, and Amy (LeRoy) Campbell; grandchildren Sarah (Adam) Dodge, Matthew (Jennifer) McGee, Bradley (Gina) McGee, William Hellerman, Kyle (Brooke) McGee, Lacie (Willy) Hietalati, Heather (Matt) Cadalbert, Lexus Campbell, and Haili Campbell; great-grandchildren Adam Jr., Hunter, Ian, Dane, Beck, Shea, Harry, Patrick, Elia, Adah, Lucy, Barrett, Clara, Reese, Edwin, and Kali; and many nieces and nephews.
