Ferris Faith Landaal, of New Richmond, WI, passed away on May 17, 2025. Ferris, daughter of Alfred and Blanche (Clark) Bye, was born on June 30, 1933 in Hammond, WI. She grew up there with her eight siblings. Later the family moved to River Falls, where Ferris attended and graduated from River Falls High School.
On October 3, 1953 she was united in marriage with Alfred M “Sonny” Landaal at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls. To that union, they had four children, three girls; Terry Larsen of Superior, WI, Toni (Jeff) Hartfield of Red Wing, MN, Tracey Hamilton of New Richmond, WI, and a son; Ricky (Barb) of New Richmond, WI. They also have ten grandchildren; Corey (Kristen) Larsen of Ely, MN, Kelli Jo (Shane) Jewison of South Range, WI, and Casey Larsen of San Diego, CA, Jason Hartfield (Jacquelyne) of Minneapolis, MN, Michael (Nicole) Hartfield of Ham Lake, MN, Jayme (Sarah) Hartfield of Red Wing, MN, Stacey Williamson (AJ) of San Antonio, TX, Tiffany Hamilton of River Falls, WI, Anna Landaal of New Richmond, WI and Luke Landaal of River Falls, WI. Ferris and her husband loved to dance (and they were very good dancers). On the weekends you would find them at whichever dance hall was having a dance. During the summer months, they also enjoyed traveling. Some of their many trips included trips to Branson, MO, Las Vegas, Nova Scotia, Canada, Mexico, a cruise to the Bahamas, several trips to North and South Dakota, and a trip to Hawaii with her brother, Marlo Bye and his wife Ruth.
Ferris’ love of fishing was shared by her family. When her kids were growing up, a yearly summer vacation was spent renting a cabin on a lake up north for a week, while enjoying fishing, swimming, and souvenir hunting in Hayward and Spooner.
In addition to fishing, Ferris' hobbies included designing decorative home interior wreaths and swags, sewing quilts and teddy bears, gardening, creating flower beds, and playing her organ, (especially country music). She will forever be remembered for entertaining all of her siblings and families for Christmas dinner, complete with beautiful decorations inside and out, Santa, music, and baking traditions.
Ferris is survived by her four children, ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Alfred “Sonny” Landaal, parents, Alfred and Blanche Bye, step father, Elwin “Sonny” Hobbs.
She was the last surviving sibling of nine children.
